This paper does a very good job of relating this passage to the passion predictions, the central feature of the journey, as you argue. Your attention to structure demonstrates the strategic location of the passage at a point of major transition. Be sure to look ahead as well as back from the pericope when it marks a transition.
Your argument based on plot is also convincing. You can strengthen it by noting not only structural connections but the use of similar motifs (commendation of faith in the healed one) in previous pericopes to give a basis for drawing more specific conclusions. A clearly written paper. A-
